Purchasing a Bail Bond in Phoenix
There are two parts to the purchase of Maricopa County bail bonds. The collateral portion and the premium/fee portion.
Collateral:
All bail bonds must be secured by collateral with a value equal to, or greater than, the amount of the bail bond. Collateral can be defined as any property (real or personal) that has saleable value. After the defendant has gone to all of their hearings and their case is disposed, the bond will be exonerated and the collateral will be returned to its owner.
Premium/Fees:
All bail bonds in Maricopa County are purchased by paying a small premium (10% of the bond amount) plus any associated fees, such as recording, storage, phone calls, and travel etc. Our bail bond Fees are posted in our office and supplied to our clients prior to entering into an agreement.
Tallini Bail Bonds Collateral Policy
Bonds under $10,000
We do not take personal property for collateral on bonds that are under $10,000. For bonds under $10,000, Phoenix Bail Bonds only takes cash, credit card charges, wired funds, bank deposits, or Zelle for the full bail amount and fee. We encourage our clients to post small bonds themselves when the risk of the defendant jumping bail is non-existent. In situations where you live out of area, or don’t want to post the bond yourself, we are happy to act as your agent in posting bonds under $10,000.
When there is a chance that the defendant may skip on bail, we recommend using a Phoenix bondsman rather than posting bail yourself. Phoenix Bail bondsmen have the right to arrest and surrender the defendant back to jail. The general public cannot arrest a defendant out on bail.
Bonds over $10,000
Tallini’s Phoenix Bail Bonds can take cash, or credit cards, as we do with small bonds, but we can also take qualifying real estate. If real estate is used for collateral, it must be a frame built home. The home must have enough equity to cover the potential forfeiture of bond if the defendant fails to appear for hearings. We typically do not take vacant land, mobiles, or modular homes for security on bonds. The best forms of collateral, on any bond, is cash, or a home that has been paid off with no liens on it. Location matters.
